Kevin Joseph COGHLAN (SN 12262), from Errard Street, was a 19 year old student at the Ballarat School of Mines when he enlisted on July 10th 1915. He trained at Castlemaine and Ballarat before embarking on the Runic on June 20th 1916. After a short period in England he moved to France in November 1916 attached to the 10th Field Ambulance. In September 1917 he transferred to the 3rd Division Supply Column as a driver. Aside from being disciplined for leaving his ambulance unattended, it seems he came through the war without significant injury or illness. He returned to Australia in mid-1919 on the Devanha. He died in December 1942 at the age of 46.
