PAGE, Wendy (Evans)
A life cut short
Wendy Veronica Page (Evans) 53, was tragically killed with her husband Rodney 54, in a Tahiti plane crash in August 2012 along with 17 other passengers. The aircraft plunged into the Pacific Ocean soon after take-off from Moorea Island near Tahiti. Mrs. Page's body was recovered but Mr. Page remains among the missing.
They are survived by their only son Michael.
Mrs. Page cared for patients who had suffered severe trauma and was a "rock" for other staff when another nurse recently died of cancer. She was extremely professional, very caring towards all her patients and to other staff, showed great qualities in terms of compassion, and was really very, very highly regarded as someone who other staff looked to as a role model. It's a great loss. St John of God Hospital has lost one of their long-standing staff who really has been someone who many people have relied on and have enjoyed working with. Mrs. Page has been a nurse for over 30 years.
Rodney ran a successful Ballarat heating and cooling system business.
The couple had not long returned from a trip to Tasmania before heading to Tahiti on holiday.
